The NOAA/NWS poeple haven't gotten it right in a long time it seems. They say its 10 knots of wind when its 20 and say its 15 to 25 when its 10 ! I liked it better when there also was a human giving the reports. There My beef for the day ! There have been reports of some really big fish in the area east of Chatham. I caught a 38 pounder last week. I have been spooled and broke off several times in the last 5-6 days. (14 lb test) I heard of a 56 Pounder from the Nauset spit lasty week and yesterdaty I heard of two fish - a 41 pounder and a 43 pounder caught just east of Monomoy / North Beach ! ! It seems that the fish are widely scattered amongst the regular 30 to 38 inch fish we usually catch here. I have been using a "Fin-S" sand eel imitation casting to the breaking bass and jigging it off the bottom when they are located there. There are a couple of hot colors that seem to work better than others. I try to match the colors that I see in the water. The sand eels seem to be a butternut tan or light olive color when I observe them trying to escape the stripewrs so i have found one or two colors in the Fin S baits that work. Come on out with me and I will tell you and show you that it does indeed make a difference.
