I heard a radio fishing report today on the way back from todays fishing charters, lamenting the lack of big bass in the area and touting the GREAT bluefishing that is around now.Water temperatures on the east side of Chatham (in the ocean) are running about 64-67 degrees right now. In the Nantucket Sound, I am sure they are in the 70's. Bass hate that kind of temperature and will soon be long gone. We have been traveling a few extra miles and have consistenly found water temps in the 57-59 degree ranges. This morning we threw back in the neighborhood of 20 - 25 striped bass, all over 33 inches long, most of these fish are 35-37 inches long and stocky weighing about 17-22 pounds apeice. There isn't a shortage of them, they just aren't where they are in the June and July months.
Come out and see for yourself.
