I guess it started around the 21 st, but due to the weekend crowd and the warmer water around the Bearses area, I started looking towards the southeast for some better fishing. After running about 20 minutes to the south I stopped on a little known and fished rip and made a drift there getting only a hit. On the second pass we caught the then biggest fish of the season, a 25 pounder. As is often the case on these smaller rips, we never caught another fish there, and we had to move on. It seemed every spot we tried had a couple of fish on it, not red hot, but enough to make the day memorable. At the end of the day we had two fish for my two customers both of which were over 24 pounds. Sometimes it pays to leave what you have to look for a better less crowded spot.
