Hi ALL,I have been notified by one of my customers that I shhould be providing more information on the tuna catches of this fall. I was reluctant at first because I did not want to seem boastful and consider myself very lucky to receive the fish I did. Apparently, I have omitted the size and other details of the two fish of the 10-9 & 10-10 dates - my last of the year. The first one was a 93 " fish (bluefin tuna) weighing 430 pounds and the second, a 94" fish weighing 452 pounds. October 9 th was still quite rough with a remnant sea state of about 4 foot. I took my time with the fish and finally got him after a 3 hour battle. Arriving at the dock, my buyer told me the fish didn't look that good and I should possible consider selling it on the domestic market instead of shipping the fish to Japan. He indicated I might get 4-4.50 per pound. It turns out the fish did get shipped overseas and returned way, way more than that !!! The fish of the 10th also did very well and for the first time in a long while I got the kind of return for my effort that you sometimes hear about. Although I worked hard for these fish, I feel very lucky and thankful to have caught these fish this year.
Thanks, Bruce
