It seems the open water action east of Chatham is a bit less than in previous years. The fish that do show under the birds are sporadically feeding on the smaller sand eels, making them more finicky than usual. If a couple boats run through the birds instead of going around its all over. Rather than deal with this type of fishing, I have been taking my customers straight to the Rips of Monomoy, specifically the ones at Bearses Shoals. We seem to average about 20 fish per 5 hour trip with some days in the mid 30's. Lately ther have been birds hovering over the edges picking up the squid that the bass chase out of the water. It has been real exiting for the last week or so.Giant Bluefin tuna are being caught quite close to Chatham off of the Crab Ledge and "BC" bouy.
My trips are booked well in advance - If you hurry you may be able to get a reservation on the few remaining days that I have left. I guess it is a good thing to be so popular, but it still bothers me to disapoint many folks that have come with me before.
Thanks to all of you that have made Capeshores Charters such a fabulous success and so much fun.
Thank You,
Bruce
