It has been too long since the last reports, my apologies. It seems with the slowdown of the cod fishing, taxes and the shows, I just dropped the ball.
COD There have been big doings in the groundfish management situation here in the northeast. I will try to keep you updated in the upcoming developments. You can expect to have a decrease in bag limits, areas, timed closures, etc. in the future. Many will say blame is to be placed solely here or there, and in reality, given the chance to "fill the coolers" or just keep what we can use many of us will go for the big ego boost every time.
Striped Bass With the warm winter we had here in the Northeast, I expect to have an early migration of fish to our waters. At the herring run yesterday I saw scales on the bank where a raccoon or a gull had a meal of alewife. I fishing fanatic freind of mine, Craig, told me the day before yesterday that he caught 13 small stripers in a local saltwater pond, but added he thought they might have been holdovers as they were a bit bronzer than normal, but added they did have sea lice on them.
Good Fishing to You
