Hi Everyone,Its 10 degrees in Eastham today and the wind is blowing about 20-25 from the north. Salt water is freezing in Pleasant Bay around the little boat. Not a particularly great day for fishing, except that in a couple days there maybe will be enough ice on the ponds for some through the ice fun.
Since my big boat is out of the water, I am not up at the pier as much as usual, but there are some codfish being caught by the Channell, a couple hours southeast of Chatham. There are some small piles of fish still to be had off Nauset, as long as you are pretty secretive about fishing on them. You could do well today and tomorrow there will be three boats on YOUR spot ! The crab ledge has a pick of small ones, but you will throw back as undersize about half of what you get there.
I guess its time to stay indoors, do taxes, maybe paint that room in the house i promised myself I would do last year !! I have been taking a few walks in the woods lately to check my trail cameras, my latest toy !
For about $250 in Cabela's you can buy a camera to strap onto a tree next to a deer or game trail. Every week or so I go out and check the camera to see what I've got. I have taken many photos of deer- bucks and does, as well as coyotes, coons, foxes etc. Last week, in South Orleans, I managed to get a picture of a flying squirrel in fully extended flight !! I think of myself as fairly in tune to nature and the woods, but I never knew these squirrels were even in my area. If anyone wishes to see it, I can scan the picture into an email to them.
I guess you learn something every day .
Stay Warm,
Bruce
