Bluefish ! There are plenty of Bluefish in and around Pleasant Bay and the Chatham Cut. They are of a decent size in the 6-8 pound range. We caught them both way up inside the bay at the Cupola House and outside the cut in the ocean. Actually we didn't really "catch" them in the ocean as we were bitten off because we still had the mono tied straight to the jigs ! They were hauling @## and it was tough to get uptide of them. It was blowing a good 20 knots too and I really didn't try to hard to get back on them.
Look for the bass schools to start stacking up on the bottom anyday just to the south of the "C" buoy. The sand eels should be there on the inside edges around 25 feet up by the cut and to 40 feet deep about a mile south of the buoy. I habven't been to the sound lately as the winds have been blowing hard from the southwest, forcing me to stay in Pleasant Bay. It has been hard fishing there too ! Most of the fish have made me really work for them and except for the bluesfish have been too small top keep as well. The hotspot right now as is always the case in June is Cape Cod Bay. If you can find a boat there that really knows the difference between "light" tackle and trolling umbrella rigs on wire or hootchies on 60 pound mono in the riggers, you may have a decent day of it. Give me another week or 10 days and I will be in the stripers thick for the rest of the summer and I wont have to worry !
My latest website statistics report from Scott, Tim and Ben of Cape Cod Computer Wholesalers, is telling me that you all visited my site 11,500 times in May with 21,000 page views and over 150,000 hits ! The daily numbers are around 275 to 450 visits per day. THANKS ! I guess that you are interested in what you see there. The internet sure has changed the way I am marketing my fishing charter service and it ha been a positive experience. There is a down side though to this electronic communication thing though, as it seems a bit impersonal. Sometimes I will get email without a greeting or signature, asking about a trip and then after I reply to their questions about a open dates and departure times for a charter request, it may be a week or more before I hear from them again. I have had folks email me asking why I didn't cash their deposit check, and go back and forth with email only to find out that they sent it to another Captain on a different boat, because they were too busy or too confused with the info they got off the internet to make sure they were booking with me and not another ????
I will return every email I get as soon as I can. I can only hope that folks will return mine as well. If there is ever any doubt about dates or times, please feel free to call me at home at 508 255-0911. Evenings are best around 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
Thanks very much,
