Hi Folks,Yup ! July is happening ! East of Monomoy and Bearse's Shoals has turned on in a major way. For the last 4 days there have been bass chasing squid out of the rips there, with gulls wheeeling and diving and breaking fish on both sides of the boat. The fish were biting so hard you could probably cast a peice of pine bark into the water and catch them ! Well not really, but they are biting good. I guess I got a little carried away there ! It is nice to see some decent fish in the area. They seem to be in the 31 to 40 inch range, with the majority of them around 33 inches.
I haven't even been using bait because the fish are up in the water column and on the surface, The Sluggo's and Fin S fish seem to work well, but the colors you use should have some variation of red, brown, black, orange or pink to get the best bites.
There doesn't seem to be any bait on the bottom in front of the Chatham inlet in the usual spots so far. I meter the bottom on the way out and in every day and have only seen minimal scratches on the color sounder machine. I am lucky to have the Bearse's rip fishing to keep my folks happy. Its pretty tough when you have to throw back 20 fish in a trip up to 40 inches long and to 20 pounds. I am booked for the rest of this week and most of next, but I still have a few openings in July if you wish to make a reservation. Many folks wait until the last minute and have to be turned away. We offer quality light tackle fishing and like any quality product, it is in high demand. If you want some of it you need to take the needed steps to make sure you get what you want ! Call as much ahead of time as you possibly can to reserve your date with a good tide.
Thanks Very Much,
Bruce and "Marilyn S"
