Hi Folks !This is the weekend that the stripers traditionally move around the tip of Monomoy Island and start to infiltrate the waters east of Chatham. There are the beach fish that are always caught in June, but I beleive they are migrating, My records show that depending on the amount of sunshine we have had that June 15 to 20 is when I catch my first striper in Bearse's Rip.
The new boat splashed in the water on Wednesday. I have been installing the electronics and doing some last minute stuff like getting fish bags and sunglasses etc on the boat. Last night I called another charter Captain to ask what was going on lately, as I have been pretty much out of the loop. He told me that they have been running about 1.5 hours down to Nantucket for the fishing that has been red hot for about a week. He said they caught 94 mixed bass and blues yesterday !
Nantucket is always the start of the good bass fishing and then they move north into the rips and shoals scattered towards Chatham. With the new boat cruising down there to the bite should be a welcome change to the smaller more bouncy Miss Jillian. I am looking forward to the first trip !
The run to the islands is a good one, requiring a 7 or 8 hour trip. I like to leave the harbor about 1 hour before slack water and by the time we get there the tide is running well and we have the whole tide ahead of us for good fishing. There are some great tides open for booking the morning trip on the upcoming week. Call me @ 508-255-0911 or email for inquiries about a reservation.
Thanks and Great Fishing,
Bruce
