Hi Folks,Yes the Bluefin Tuna have showed up and are being caught as we speak. Most of these fish are legal fish around 60 inches long and 100 to 130 pounds. By the way, they need to be 47 inches this year to keep them. Starting August 15 you can take an additional fish of over 27 inches. I will not tell you exactly where to go because I have friends fishing there, but if you put in your time and head to the Northeast of Chatham you will find the fish.
I am still doing real well on the stripers in the rips. They are averaging around 33-35 inches and we have been throwing them back after we get what we need. Last Sunday, the Wilson charter threw back a really nice striped bass that was 45 inches long and estimated at 35 pounds! Just yesterday we were releasing fish in the 39 to 40 inch class at the end of the trip.
Today however, I rescheduled my morning trip because of some pesky southwest winds. We will head out tomorrow morning to do what the winds kept us from today. I will not beat up my customers, by taking you out on crappy days. I would rather you came back with me next year. As long as I can reschedule you to another open date, I will try to do the trip later on a better day. Many times though, due to heavy bookings, I have no open date to put you into, so it is either go, or I give you back your deposit. By the way, "Bad Weather" is winds of velocity and direction that are generating sea conditions too uncomfortable or unsafe for your party. "Bad Weather" is NOT the tv or readio weather report of a possible thunderstorm, rain or drizzle, or fog.
Give me a call to reserve some of this great fishing for your group, before the reservation book is full. ( It will be)
Thanks very much,
Bruce & "Marilyn S"
