Hi Folks,Yesterdays trip caught 45 striped bass all on topwater lures under wheeling gulls and breaking fish at Bearse's Shoals ! The shorter morning trip the day before produced 33 nice fat, healthy bass in sizes ranging from 28 to 43 inches long. The stripers are here on Cape Cod waiting for you to come and catch them. My friend John tells me P Town is slow and the tuna fishermen are catching large bass and some blues on the trolled squid bars east of Chatham, so its safe to say there are lots of striped bass around in the Chatham and southeast Cape Cod area waters.
I haven't fished for bluefin tuna in a few days, so Im not in on the latest locations, but I do know that the boats are fishing closer inshore and that they are catching bass and blues on the squid bars. There seems to be a "pick" going on and if its your day, you will get a fish for some nice sashimi or sushi dinner. Eric Stewart, of Hook Up fame, battled a really large bluefin last weekend for 7.5 hours before that 900 pound fish won the battle. Sorry Eric, for your loss. I know the feeling. It Sucks !
If you are seriously looking for a charter, call your skipper before your arrival on Cape to ensure a reservation. Most of us are booked in advance and cant help you if you wait to try to "catch" a boat after to arrive for your vacation. Some of my regular customers call 6-8 months ahead to be sure they get a good tide and departure time during a week when there actually are good amounts of fish around.
Thanks, and Good Fishing,
Bruce & "Marilyn S"
With no charters till tomorrow, Im getting caught up on my land based work, but will be out tomorrow and through the holiday weekend.
