January 2014 - Season Starter
Well, we just had our big “whoop-tee-doo” nor’easter, and got 14-18 inches of snow and there is not much fishing going on here to report for you right now. My boats are all safely on land and I’m trying to decide what work project to start on first. I have a few maintenance items to do on the boat and then I am planning to add two more fuel tanks to increase my range for offshore giant tuna fishing. Its a big project and will involve lifting the deck and rebuilding the deck framing. Since i will be exposing a lot perhaps a new head gasket and clean out of the after cooler and remount of the exhaust system will be taken on as well.
Many of you took advantage of the Christmas season 15% off promotional discount and reserved several bluefin tuna and striped bass fishing charters. That saves you over $200 off the cost of tuna trip and approximately $100 off the cost of a striped bass trip. Keep posted for added discounted trips for early June bluefin tuna and September striped bass trips. I offer these as a way to fill in my less booked weeks in June and September. The only catch is that you must pay 50% of the discounted trip as a deposit in advance.
I do have the newest 2014 Tide charts now and I can help you to find when the better larger tides will be for striper fishing, and the best smaller tides for bluefin tuna. Please send me an email, or call, if you have any questions about these tides, and the better fishing days, if you are planning be on a fishing vacation here on the Outer Cape. If you are interested in the combination striped bass and bluefin tuna trip, we must plan well in advance to select the very limited days that have both a good small tide in the morning for tuna, and a decent running current in the afternoon for bass fishing. There aren’t that many days in a month that these trips can work, so preplanning is critical. Ideally, we would like to have a slow-moving tide in the morning with a slack at around eight or nine in the morning and then as the tide starts to run faster, we could move to the bass fishing areas, arriving by late morning and getting a few hours of good bass fishing in before we head home at the end of the day.
Please call or email and we can discuss options for your outing and reserve something before the summer rush and there is limited availability.
Thanks very much,
Capt. Bruce & “Marilyn S”
