The middle of the hot summer is upon us with the first weeks of August. Capeshores Charters is booked very heavily with only a few openings in each week of the remainder of the season. Every day I get 2-3 or more calls from the folks that have just arrived on Cape and are looking for a fishing charter. Unfortunately, I have to turn them away because I can only fit so many charters into one day of fishing. Please call ahead to reserve your date and time.
The bass fishing has picked up and we again got our limits today. Bearse’s Shoals and Stonehorse Shoals have had fish and squid on them in the last several trips. They want the bait though. There has also been a vertical jig bite of nice sized stripers as well for our customers.
Bluefin Tuna action has been hot and cold, depending upon the boat traffic and effort on the fish. We have been fishing the eastern side of the Inshore Figs and and an area east of the BC buoy in an effort to stay out of the weekend warrior effort. There is still and awesome amount of bait in the inshore areas with lots of mackeral, and sand eels for the bluefin to feed on. The whale show has been spectacular as well. There is no extra charge for the whale show offered on most of these tuna charters !
If you are interested in fishing with us, there is limited half day openings for striped bass scattered through the coming weeks. Please email us for the availability. There are also a few unbooked days for the full day bluefin tuna or bluefin and striped bass combination charters as well. Currently they are August 8, 16, 17, 26, 30, September 1, 3, 5, 6, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30.
Good Fishing to You,
Capt. Bruce & “Marilyn S”
