It is the time of the year when the sun is shining more brightly and for longer durations. We realize that the winter drudgery is over. We take the leaves out of the skiff and go online to order varnish and bottom paint, and perhaps start to look forward to sunnier days on the water. I am starting to realize how my charter reservations coincide with these brightening of days. I have already had to turn down some folks for their requested day, as it was already booked. As a subscriber to this forum you may have already seen the Tides mailing that tries to show how differing tides and days are better for certain fishing trips. Now is the time to get your calendar out and try to reserve a date for a fishing trip as you plan your vacation. This is a standard reply form to an email query that comes from my website. I offer it again to refresh and jog or remind folks that I dont want you to put off planning a great day of fishing. I hope to see you again this year.

Hi , Thanks for returning the survey form. I offer light tackle fishing charters for striped bass, bluefish and bluefin tuna. The striper and blues trips are usually 4 hrs, ($550) 5 hrs, ($625) or 7 hrs ($825) in duration, and departure times vary every day according to the timing of the tides on that day. We usually do 2 striper fishing trips daily, or one tuna trip, and reserve them well in advance of the season. My bass tackle is St. Croix spinning rods with 15 pound test line, and we cast and drift to stripers over structure.
The Bluefin tuna trips (usually one per day) are 8 hrs, ($1150) or 10 hrs ($1450) in duration, and usually we are trolling squid bars or rigged ballyhoo, with Shimano 80 lb trolling reels and stand up gear with harnesses. We do have highly advanced Shimano spinning gear on board for experienced anglers if the fish are small enough to tackle with this light gear. In addition to the school sized bluefin charters, we offer longer duration trips, using specialized gear and techniques, for targeting only the "Giant" bluefin tuna, of true "bucket list" status, weighing from 300 to over 1000 pounds. These specialized charters are more expensive, starting at $1800 per day depending upon duration and number of anglers.
An advance reservation is highly recommended due to heavy bookings in season and can be made with a 1/3 deposit, (rounded) mailed to me at the address below. Some days are more desirable due to tide and human traffic, so making a reservation well in advance is good advice.
If you reply to this email with the window of time that you will be on Cape, I will return to you a list of available days and departure times that will work for your fishing charter. Please email me at bruce@sportfishingcapecod.com or call with any questions you have about fishing with me. If you prefer to call, early evenings are best, as we go to bed early in order to be on duty in the morning. My cell phone is 508-237-0399.
Thanks very much, Bruce
