Hi Folks !We are now in prime season here on the Cape. The fried clams and grilled burgers can be smelled from 3 miles offshore when we have a westerly breeze. The striped bass are in the deep water just outside of Chatham Harbor and the bluefin tuna have finally showed up and we have caught at least one on every trip we have had in the last 10 days. Check the Capeshores Charters Facebook page for the pictures. https://www.facebook.com/capeshores.charters Upon my return from Friday's tuna charter, I had 11 voicemail messages from folks looking for a charter, all but 3 were looking for a trip in the next day or two, and only one was looking for something out in mid August. It was the same on my return from Saturday's tuna outing. I appreciate your calls ! I really do. I have changed my voicemail to ask for your name and phone number and ..."the range of days that you are here on Cape and IF I have an opening, I will return your call". I do want to take you out fishing, but I cant take all that ask, because there isnt enough hours in the day. I feel guilty at times by not returning everyone's calls, but I dont take calls while I am on the boat as I am working for the folks that chartered me, and at the end of the day, its more important for me to refuel my boat and my body than it is to spend an hour or more calling back to chat with the folks I can't possibly fit into my limited schedule. I appreciate very much your interest and phone calls, i do, but I cannot call every one of you back to tell you I am booked or to recommend someone else.
For future planning, may I suggest that when you reserve your lodging for your Cape Cod vacation, that you also make a call to your Captain and reserve a day for your fishing trip ? Then you get to choose an optimum time of departure with a tide size more suitable for the species you are targeting. I always put out a tide report listing the tides for the upcoming season.
Lastly here are the list of open days I currently have open and unbooked. I appreciate very much your interest and phone calls. August 22 & 28. September 6, 11, 12, 13, & 14. These are all full day openings to date. Half day trips can be fitted in around the optimum tuna tides. October dates are still open as well, but commercial tuna fishing is my priority at that time of the year, and sportfishing charters will be fitted in around that schedule.
Thank you very much,
Captain Bruce & Marilyn S
