Hi Folks, October is the best time to catch a bluefin tuna. Weather however, can be an issue, as it is a very windy month. As long as your charter group can be a little flexible or willing to go on relatively short notice, ( 2-3 days) you will find some fabulous fishing for these great sport fishes. Yesterday’s 10 hour bluefin charter caught 3 recreationally sized bluefin, and my customers took home some very delicious tuna steaks and loins. We have open dates, and as long as you can work with weather “windows”, we can get you on the fish. A weather window is a short opening in between predicted windy days. Generally at this time of year, we get 2-3 days of wind, with a day or two of calm, followed by another day or two of wind. As long as you are able to either, get lucky with calm winds on your selected day, OR be able to move on a couple days notice, to a predicted calm period, we can get you out.
Today is windy, with southwest winds of 15-20 knots in the forecast. Tomorrow, it switches to north winds, and for the next few days it will blow quite hard out of the north and east. I would guess that by Monday and Tuesday of next week, and maybe by Sunday, the wind and seas will have reduced enough to have a good fishing outing. It is what it is, the weather dictates what we can do when it comes to fishing charters. The bluefin tuna are surely here in force, and if you want to catch one or more, then you must be able to adjust your schedule to work with what ever the weather window gives you.

Thanks very much,
