Hi Folks !
It is the start of another Capeshores Charters fishing season. This upcoming season may bring some changes that are still being worked out and I will notify you all as I get more information. I suspect changes to the recreational striped bass limit, perhaps a slot ? I also suspect changes to the commercial striper season open dates, bag limit or sizes as well. We finally have pushed mid water herring and mackerel trawlers much further off our Cape shorelines, and I suspect that will have a positive effect on our bluefin tuna fishing for years to come. We are looking forward to some excellent black sea bass fishing in June this year. The best eating fish in the ocean !
Every year I post a list of the largest and smallest tides, because I feel the small tides are better for tuna fishing. I have come to learn it really doesn’t matter so much to have a large tide to catch stripers. They bite on every tide, with variations according to the amount of flow and timing of the ebb or flood of the tides. So this year I will highlight the smallest of the tides for tuna efforts, and only the very largest of the tides for use as a comparison. I’ve found the bass are willing to feed on most all tides, just somedays are of longer duration than others.
June 13 to 20 July 10 through 20, and 30 and 31 August 10 through 17, and 27 through 30 September 7 through 14, and 24 through 29 October 5 through 14, and 23 through 28
June 1 through 10, and 22 through 28 July 6 through 9, and 22 through 27 August 3 through 7, and 18 through 25 September 16 through 22 October 15 through 22.
I offer this for those folks looking to reserve a tuna charter with the best tide variables. I suggest not booking your trip on high traffic days. For example Sundays tend to be very crowded days on the waters, even though most don’t show up till 7:30 or 8 am. For your bass trips, try to select days when commercial striper fishing is not allowed, as they tend to be quite crowded as well. Last year it was Monday and Thursday, I have heard that this year they would like to make it Mondays and Wednesdays. (not confirmed as yet)
I want you to have the best chances available on your charter with me. Call me and ask a pile of questions, reserve early to get the best selection of available days, set up a place to stay the night before so all your group is well rested, Pack lunches, and have a means to properly take care of your fish.
For questions, call or email me.
Thanks very much,
Bruce & “Marilyn S”
