HI Folks ! Yes we have the fog in Chatham these last few days. Thick "pea soup" or "black" fog, is what we fishermen call it here in Chatham when it is thick. We still are fishing stripers and tuna. The stripers are tending on the small side, and we need to pick through many that are too small, or "short" to get a few keeper sized ones. Our size limit this year is 28" for the minimum and also this year there is a slot, so anything larger than 34" must get thrown back - ouch ! This week we have done well on Bluefin Tuna. There are lots around and we have landed three fish this week ranging from 400 to 800 pounds. Since the commercial market is closed we are releasing them and not taking them aboard. This fish need to be fought carefully and revived prior to their safe release. The bait supply is incredible with vast schools of mackerel all over. I expect a banner year for the amount of bluefin in our area, due to this good bait supply. I do have a couple openings for tuna charters this upcoming weekend and next week if one was wanting to try to land one of these "bucket list" sport fishes. With striper fishing at a slow period it might be just the right thing to do. Currently July 26 and 28 are open for a tuna charter, As well as August 2, 3, and 9. Call my cell to reserve a date at 508 237-0399. For those of you looking for a striper trip, again call my cell and leave a message indicating the window of days that you can go. IF I have an opening during your window I will call you back. Most reputable charter operators are going to be busy and you will need to reserve in advance as much as possible. Thanks very much, Capt.
