Hi Folks !I knew that would get your attention ! Its true though. There are a couple of individuals, each year that come with me and fish for no charge. I consider these folks to be friends of mine that after meeting them on my charter boat, they have offered to me at no charge, the thing that really lights my fire, a chance to hunt with a bow and arrow, older mature and unpressured deer on their land or other exclusive access to land that they know about.
These fellows are coincidentally both named Edward, one from Arkansas and the other from Connecticut. I would expect to hear from Eddie from Arkansas any time now, as I know that he will soon be up to see his daughter Leslie and do some fishing with his hard working son in law Sean. Perhaps Sean will leave his cell phone at home this time !! Thanks to Eddie, there is a mount of the biggest deer of my life on my wall, a 172 3/8's 14 pointer ! This is perhaps the buck of a lifetime. Eddie, I want you to know how much I really appreciate your generosity to me and I hope to see you this August.
I am always open to seeing new hunting ground, especially where there are unhunted or unpressured deer. I do an annual bowhunting trip to the midwest in pursuit of this passion, and have made many friendships and learned many lessons along the way. If you are situated to provide me a similar opportunity and are interested in light tackle sportfishing on Cape Cod, I would like to hear from you. In time, I will most likely be able to offer lodging as well as the fishing in return for the hunting access.
Now for the Fishing Reprt !
Bearse's Shoals has been producing regular limits for my customers. I have had some days when the fish only bit on one tide, but for the most part, it has been a nice change in the relativly slow start this spring. It seems like we are in late June fishing and not mid July. Striped Bass have been caught in the waters east of Chatham inlet as well. Monday and Tuesday schools of bass were found both on the bottom and midwater at the usual spots. The midwater fish were mixed with the schools of small bluefish. There is another body of fish to the north off of Nauset Beach as well. On the way back from the rips on Tuesday afternoon, I saw the larger gulls and the terns working over a school that definately looked like bass.
So GET READY ! Its about to bust loose ! The bait outside in 60 to 90 feetof water is phenomenal, there are small tuna being caught there (less than 70 inches) when there is visibility. Its my opinion that even though we have had a slow start, we are going to have the usual July and August fishery here off Chatham.
