Hi Folks,
There has been a dramatic change in the tuna fishing in the last day or two. The amount of bait in the area has been unbelieveable ! The color video fish finder was marking bait in the form of krill and sand eels from top to bottom on Friday, which was the last day I fished tuna. We fished in and among bubble feeding whales for about 2 miles without so much as a sniff from the tuna. I never caught a fish that day even though I was in the middle of a pack of boats that were on the bait and fish. Of those in the fleet, several boats had multiple hookups, but it was not my day to get the one or two I would have wanted. Today I heard from Mike and Garrett that the fish were again on the bite. Mike caught 6 and Garrett had several on and lost them at the boat. Thats painful ! Gary also said he had fish crashing on the surface on the sand eels today ! It seems there are a couple of spots, one being SW of the BC bouy and the other to the north. I will have tuna charters every day for the next 4-5 days, so I will have a lot more to report after tomorrow. I am trying to change tomorrow's bass trip to a tuna trip as we speak, as I think it will be that good.
