Hi Folks,
Yes the Bearse's Bass Thumb is coming back. That's what I call it when your thumb get all shredded from unhooking 40-50 bass in a day ! The squid are moving through as expected and the stripers and the gulls are right on them. Its been quite a sight to see AND quite crowded on weekends at all of the rips close to Monomoy Point. Handkerchief Shoals, Stonehorse Shoals, and Bearse's Shoals ALL have fish on them.
The bluefin tuna are cooperating as well, with good action in several of the locations. Many radio reports of one and even two fish in the box are being heard. The fish this year are a very, very nice size of over 60". You can well imagine what a 5 foot tuna ( fish bullet) fights like. There aren't days like a couple years ago when we were catching 10-16 much smaller fish on a tuna trip though. If you get one of these fish weighing over 150 pounds, you are having a good day, more than that and you are a "highliner" for the day. I have also heard some unconfirmed reports of some smaller fish in the area as well, but I am not sure having been out of the tuna loop for a few days. The back to back bass charters I am doing are keeping me very busy at this time of the year.
The next week or 10 days is quite solidly booked, with an occasional opening here and there, but after the July 12 date there are many openings. My email and computer system has been fixed and now I can again answer your emailed requests for information. Please read the text on the website www.sportfishingcapecod.com to have most of your questions answered. You can always call the home and cell numbers, but understand I do not answer the phone on the boat while Im on a trip and I don't get home until late evening. Email works best.
Thanks very much,
Bruce & "Marilyn S"
